Dr. Mandar Bardapurkar, a leading pediatrician, gave a guest lecture on food’s basic need to Grade 4 students at Radcliffe School in Kharghar. He discussed the concept of 3W’s and O, which represent the three foods to avoid: white sugar, salt, refined flour, and unhealthy oil. He highlighted that food is essential for our existence, providing energy, growth, and disease protection. He also highlighted the rainbow colors of food, such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, eggplant, and violet grapes.
He also encouraged the students to be mindful of their eating habits, advising them to opt for whole, natural foods instead of processed ones. Dr. Bardapurkar emphasized the importance of moderation and making informed choices about what they consume daily. He concluded the lecture by reminding the students that maintaining a balanced diet is not just about eating the right foods, but also about avoiding harmful substances like excess sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats. The session ended with an interactive Q&A, where students eagerly asked questions, showing their interest in adopting healthier eating habits.
